I am sure, like me, many of you find your book recommendations from strangers on the internet. Bookstagram and Booktok are some of my favorite types of social media and I have created a list for all of you here of the 5 books (and let's be honest in some cases authors) that I see come up most. They are in no particular order and while I plan to eventually read them all a number of them are ones I am just starting or are sitting on my TBR.

I will leave a brief description of each book and include a link to buy them from Bookshop.org which is an online bookstore that sells books for local bookstores. I will also let you know what I link of the ones I am currently reading or have read.

1. Circe by Madeline Miller

The Cover for the Book Circe by Madeline Miller

This book is a retelling of the Greek classic The Odyssey and is focused around the Goddess Circe who Zeus banished to an island after discovering that she could practice witchcraft.

The book follows her journey as she encounters famous characters like the Minotaur, Daedalus and Icarus, Medea, and, of course, Odysseus.

The author Madeline Miller is huge in the bookish community. Her other book Song Of Achilles if also a retelling of a Greek classic and also gets talked about a lot. Both books are really well known because of their fun reimaginations of classic characters.

I have started this one and read the first 4 chapters. I am enjoying it, but just haven't had much reading time lately

You can find Circe here.

2. A Court Of Thorns And Roses by Sarah J. Maas

The Cover for A Court Of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

A Court of Thorns and Roses (or ACOTAR for short) is the first book in a series and follows a girl named Feyre who finds herself in a faerie world that has been cursed. This book is a steamy fantasy that introduces a new world and has a lot of really fun characters.

If you have been on social media book communities at all I am sure you have heard of Sarah J. Maas. On top of ACOTAR and the series surrounding it her other series Throne of Glass is also talked about a ton on bookstagram and booktok. She is really well known for having great world building, fun characters and a great writing style.

I read ACOTAR the first book earlier this summer and overall loved it. I struggled with a few of the characters and some of the plot points that felt obvious to me, but that the characters struggled with. I am looking forward to eventually finishing the series though.

You can find ACOTAR here.

3. The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab

The cover for The Invisible Life of Addie Larue by V.E. Schwab

To get out of a marriage she doesn't want Addie LaRue makes a deal. She becomes immortal but is cursed so that no one will remember her. The novel follows her travels across centuries as she learns how to make her mark.

V.E. Schwab is well known in the fantasy realm and is also one of the authors who is talked about a lot. She is also known for The Shade of Magic series and Vicious.

You can find The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue here.

4. Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo

The cover for Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo

Shadow and Bone is the first book in the Grisha trilogy which is YA. The book follows Alina who discovers she has powers and is forced to join the Grisha who are a society of magical beings. Her kindgom is relying on her to help them escape the attacks of the dreaded Fold.

This is another one where the author is talked about a lot. She has written The Shadow and Bones trilogy, the Six of Crows duology, the King of Scars duology (the last two duos are sequel serieses in the same world as Shadow and Bone) and the stand alone Ninth House which is adult fiction.

My husband and I are currently reading this book together and we are about a quarter of the way through. Honestly a lot of the characters are really annoying me, but I really want to push through and read it. Especially because I have heard great things about the sequel series. This one might take me awhile though because I am not loving it.

You can find Shadow and Bone here.

5. They Both Die At the End

The cover for They Both Die At The End by Adam Silvera

Mateo and Rufus both learn that they are going to die on the same day. The are total strangers, but meet on an app to have an adventure to last a lifetime in their last day of life.

This YA novel is by the author of If I Stay and Before I Fall. I read both of those years ago and so I am so excited to read this one soon.

You can find They Both Die At The End here.
